If you like homestyle breakfast’s, then this is the place to go. The fare of bacon and eggs, omelettes, and standard coffee is what you will get here. Food portions are quite reasonable. Good service, and good value for the money. No wonder it’s popular with the locals.
My family has tried many other restaurants in Guelph for brekkie but we keep coming back to the Vienna. The value is good. The service is friendly and fairly quick. The brekkie is old school good. For example, Vienna’s breakfast potatoes are old fashioned homefries not frozen tater tots like you find at a lot of other places. That said, the coffee could be improved.
I’ve had more breakfasts here than I can count. So many good memories of cup after cup of coffee and putting the pieces of “last night” together with friends and lovers. It isn’t fancy by any means but I would be comfortable taking anyone there. Food is always served hot and fast and portions are generous but don’t make you feel like a glutenous over consumer when placed in front of you.
Hungover? Need a delicious breakfast? Go here. It’s less expensive than other breakfast restaurants in Guelph, and offers lots of options. We especially liked the chocolate chip pancakes!
I was very impressed with the atmosphere of the restaurant, it’s a great improvement. My partner ordered the breakfast bagel which was very good but somewhat dry and the potatoes were also very dry. The single server did an excellent job handling all of the customers, but needed help despite her best effort. I will be back for another breakfast.
Went for breakfast – it was very affordable, delicious, and excellent service. Highly recommended!
Vienna is one of my favourite places to go out for breakfast in Guelph. It has a small town diner feel to it, which you generally only find in the smaller towns of Ontario. It’s actual food is good. For diner food it’s great. It’s a great place to meet up with friends. Highly recommended.
Just visited my son in Guelph and we’re always looking for a place to take him and his roommates for breakfast. This fit the bill. Great food and really reasonable prices. We’ll be back.
As part of our weekend ritual we always have breakfast downtown before going to the market. This is a great “Small Town Diner”! We have been back here 3 times, they always have a good number of staff working and you always have great service. The food is what you would expect for a small town diner. The eggs Benedict are good and so are the sausages. The only warning I would hazard to give, is do not order the “Big Breakfast” unless you are really, really hungry. I ordered and felt guilty that I could not eat it all.
Really, there is no better place in Guelph to get consistently great service, fresh food, choices and delicious bottomless coffee. I go at least twice a week and occasionally on the weekend. I haven’t tried dinner yet, as that’s relatively new but I shall and will update accordingly.
This was our first visit but the place was recommended to us by several pople as a great restaurant for breakfast or a brunch for Sunday. We were quickly seated, ordered their “bottomless cups of coffee” while looking through the menu. French toast was great, so was traditional Ham & eggs breakfast. One of us ordered an omelette which was just average. Still, we all shared a large slice of freshly made carrot cake and concluded that the restaurant was a good value for money. The waitresses were very attentive and quick, the place was almost full, so it is a very popular restaurant with the locals.
Visited a few years back but was not impressed. Returned for another early morning breakfast try , under new ownership now. Place has been fixed up, nice historic photos of Guelph, really clean and inviting. Wait staff are excellent. Food was delivered fast, excellent homefries, eggs and bacon done as requested and price is very reasonable. We’ve been looking for a good diner breakfast in Guelph since we moved into the area several years ago, now we’ve found it, no need to go anywhere else. Downtown location with free street parking an extra bonus. Congratulations to new ownership and service team!
The food was pretty average. Tasty, but nothing special. Excellent value for money though! I was pretty broke, so being able to go in and get a full breakfast (eggs, toast, sausage, hash browns, etc.) with free refills on coffee… Fantastic! Great if you’re looking for a nice, cheap, filling breakfast.
Never disappointed in the breakfast. Lots of food, fast service. Only problem is it is very popular, so go earlier on weekends if you don’t want to wait for a seat. Also took my in-laws there for lunch. They are very picky but were very pleased with their lunch. My father in-law said it was the best burger he’d ever had!
The chicken schnitzel was amazing and so was the the German potato salad. I would definitely come back, can’t wait to try their breakfast. Great prices too!
Not many places in Guelph for schnitzel, so when they opened on Friday nights, we gave it a try. Really enjoyed the hunter schnitzel, best we have had for a long time.
We have enjoyed this restaurant, twice recently, in downtown Guelph. We had breakfast both times. It is small, quaint and family run. There may be a line-up out the door on a weekend morning, but don’t let it scare you away, the line moves quickly. This is a sign of the popularity. Fast and friendly with good food.
My daughter and I had a late breakfast at the Vienna. It’s nice that they serve breakfast all day. Wonderful, quick service. The prices were reasonable. Plenty on my plate. This will be my regular breakfast go to from now on.
